We gathered today at the famous Ama-achi to pay our last respect to John Ofoegbu who departed this sinful world after a protracted ill health.
It could be noted that the young man went through a partial stroke that lingered over a period while the family tried as much as possible to save him from this ill health.
This from every indication cost them fortune to save him. This writer was aware and observed when he was going through an expensive therapy, all to wrestle him out of the pangs of death but as it could please Almighty God he succumbed finally to death.
At the funeral Mass at Ama-achi, tributes from the family, kindred, in-laws,friends and well wishers centered on his kindness, this was like a chorus which rented the air.
Though we do not speak evil against the dead, the good deed of John was considered more than whatever negative lifestyle he might have lived.
It was a moment of sober reaction as the man of God from the Anglican Communion gave the funeral sermon. The mourners were therefore directed to the teachings of Jesus Christ about the rich man and Lazarus.
